Reading to Sister

So I looked into the living room the other day and this is what I found.  Michaela decided to go over by Dani and read her sister a story.  How cute is that?

What a good big sister!

Milk and Juice

Some kids have imaginary friends.  Our kid has imaginary livestock.  Yep, livestock.

A few weeks ago Michaela was playing under the kitchen table and was telling us how there were cows, horses and chickens under there.

The cows got named Purple and a couple other colors (I've honestly forgotten the rest of their names since they only made a 10 minute appearance).  Apparently, the cows didn't stick around.

The horses didn't even get names, but according to Michaela, they took off with the cows.

The chickens however, have moved in to stay.  Milk and Juice are her imaginary chickens.  They live under the kitchen table and Michaela randomly sits there and plays with them.  They are so real to her that when I took this picture she ran over to me demanding to see Milk and Juice on my camera.  She was excited that their group photo had turned out so well.  You think I'm joking, but I'm not.

Lady and Tramp

Sometimes Michaela comes up with the craziest things...

Last Saturday for her very first Easter egg hunt Michaela wore flip-flops and got her feet dirty.  Afterwards when I was washing and drying her feet she informed me that "Lady and Tramp got a bath."  I thought nothing of this since I assumed she was referencing Lady and The Tramp from the Disney movie (which she loves).  Then I started putting on her socks.  With one sock on and one sock off she infoms me "Lady has a sock on.  Tramp is naked." Ummm... "Michaela did you name your feet? Did you name your feet Lady and Tramp?" "Yep."

Lady and Tramp have been referenced by Michaela all week. Lady has a shoe on, Tramp does not... Lady and Tramp have socks on...  Tramp is wet...  The list of Lady and Tramp scenarios goes on.  Needless to say, Chris and I are thoroughly amused by this new eccentricity and giggle at her every time she mentions her feet by name.

Smiley Baby :)

Dani started smiling a couple weeks ago but is always done before I can capture the moment.  She really likes to smile at lights and shadows (which is funny to watch), but she granted a few smiles especially for her Mommy within the past few days too. :)

Easter

Here's a few highlights from Easter weekend.  Being that Michaela is only two I explained why we celebrate Easter very simply for her.  I think she kinda got it being that every time we talked about why we were celebrating Easter and having parties it was, "because Jesus is alive!" :)

Easter egg hunt in Caledonia

So excited about coloring eggs for the first time!

Easter egg hunt at home on Easter morning.  For that first dozen or so eggs she'd open it as soon as she found it and eat one of the candies.  We had to put a stop to that before she filled up on jelly beans and whopper eggs!

So proud of her new Easter dress!

Dani's first Easter (and first holiday)

They love each other SOOO much! :)

T-shirts and shorts

With nice warm temperatures finally upon us I had to go get Michaela some t-shirts and shorts yesterday because she didn't have any that fit her.  (I seriously looked at her closet yesterday and realized that she had only long-sleeved shirts and pants in her current sizes).

So after a small shopping trip yesterday, today she got to try out her first "summer" outfit.  She looked adorable, but I got a chuckle each time I saw her reach up and try to pull her sleeves down.  Apparently, she has forgotten what clothing feels like that doesn't completely cover her entire body. :)

And so nobody thinks I've forgotten our other little blessing... Dani has gotten a heat rash from the past two days of warmth.  boo! hiss! Even though I have plenty of summer clothes in her current size (moving to 3-6 month already!), I have to just let her sit around in only a diaper whenever we're at home because she sweats through her clothes!

From the mouths of babes...

So here at the Hall house we never have a dull moment with our chattering 2 1/2 year old around.  She says the funniest things!  Here are a few that Chris and I have gotten some smiles from...

"Toy Story is HILARIOUS!" This gets said anytime you say something is "hilarious."  Whatever you said was hilarious couldn't possibly be hilarious because only Toy Story is hilarious.

"That would be perfect." Gets used anytime Michaela has an idea she would REALLY like you to carry out.  She wants a bath... "that would be perfect."  She wants to wear a certain pair of shoes, pants, underwear, etc., "that would be perfect."

"Is that pineapple? Pineapple is my favorite!"  This is from an actual conversation we had yesterday when she saw me eating some fresh pineapple.  The funny thing is that we haven't had pineapple in the house in at least 3-4 months.

"I love it SOOO very much!" is the standard answer anytime you ask Michaela how she feels about something she enjoys.  What do you think about your baby sister? "I love her SOOO very much!" How do you feel about the frog park? "I love it SOOO very much!"  The list could go on and on and on...

And then there's the movie quotes.  What 2 year old quotes movies?  Chris' child of course. :) She picks up on the little sayings from the various movies she likes to watch and then will randomly spew them back at us. Two of our favorites are from one of her latest movie obsessions "Cars":

"I'm sooo not taking you to dinner." "That's okay Stickers. You can take Bessie!" (Lightning McQueen talking with Sally in the courtroom), and "Pitstop!" (Guido)

I'm sure there's many more but sometimes they get forgotten before I can write them down. I'll have to try to do more "From the mouths of babes..." posts in the future as she continues to supply me with more stories.
